LOL (Laughing Out Loud) and ROFL (Rolling On Floor Laughing) don't really mean what they say. LOL means you think something was funny, ROFL means that you are actually laughing hard, maybe even moving your body, but certainly not rolling on the floor, cause then, how would you be typing?

I know someone who'll type "hehe" instead of LOL or haha. Personally, if I'm not really laughing I'll type "haha" but if I am laughing, then I'll LOL or ROFL even though if I'm typing I am obviously not Rolling On the Floor Laughing.
